In addition to TCEQ, local cities and municipalities also have their own requirements. San Antonio and surrounding areas have recently been modifying their rules and regulations in order to protect the Edwards Aquifer which provides most of South Central Texas with fresh drinking water.


As a Licensed Contractor through the Development Services Department of the City of San Antonio, TX and its ETJ area (5 miles surrounding the city limits) Smart Irrigation Systems LLC is actively repairing, modifying, designing and installing sprinkler systems. The City of San Antonio has created Information Bulletin (IB) 183, Landscape Irrigation System Requirements. This IB is intended to be a guide to help Irrigation Contractors with the rules and regulations regarding the installation and repair of irrigation systems. It has been updated for the department's new format for information bulletins, changes made to specific requirements, and modified to remove a link to an obsolete document.

The Department in San Antonio is issuing this Information Bulletin 183 in order to provide customers with the information on landscape irrigation system requirements. This Information Bulletin provides guidance to the consumer as to only use LIcensed Contractors.



.The bulletin has been revised to have a new format and updated content, as well as additional consumer information..
